Summer Program

David Bart has been teaching music at Ashleys since 1987 and has taught and performed as a musician/storyteller in the metroplex since 1984.

All the children at Ashleys attend music class.  The program includes singing, playing recorders and orchestral instruments and rhythm/ear-training games.  Music appreciation includes children's songs, popular music and compositions from the baroque, classical, romantic, modern and contemporary periods.

Each year, students in the upper grades build musical instruments (xylophone, kazoo, horn, slide whistle, maracas) out of wood, hardware and other durable materials.  3rd and 4th grade classes record a radio play or create a music video.

Classes include all kinds of dance, plays and dramatic interpretations of music that are performed for classmates as well as students in other classes.  Mr. Bart has a passion for music and he has been sharing his knowledge and love of music with the children at Ashleys for nearly 20 years.
