HOME READING PROGRAM
In second grade, we move from nightly readers to short chapter books.
Assigned books will be sent home in a denim bag to be read nightly.
The bag and book should stay in the backpack and be returned to school
each day. Lost books will be replaced at the expense of the
parent. Each night students will read aloud to a parent for 10
minutes and then read silently for 10 minutes. After completing
the book, a book report form will be completed and turned in. A
new book will then be assigned. One book and report must be
completed each week. Extra book reports will go toward the silver
or gold medal.
35 books reports (required) = bronze medal
40 book reports = silver medal
45+ book reports = gold medal |

MONDAY BACKPACK CHECK
Each Monday students should have the ALL of the
following in their backpacks:
-Purple Home Folder signed by parent
-Look at My Work signed by parent
-Spelling Spiral signed by parent
-Completed book report
-Book bag with book
-Reading Folder |

REMINDER
8:00 am is on time. 3 tardies = 1 absence. 15 absences =
grade failure. Sign in will be required at 8:01 am. Uniforms
available through MILLS (click on Uniforms tab at left).
$5 rental fee for belts, etc. if a uniform is incomplete! |
| All outerwear must be UNIFORM according to handbook policies.
Street jackets must be left in lockers until after school. Also,
for any field trips in cool weather, students must wear a UNIFORM
sweater, jacket or coat. |
